Chandler Vaughn joined Hostway as Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO) in May 2018. Chandler’s role includes the development and execution of Hostway’s product roadmap, and setting the technology and product strategy for the company.
Prior to Hostway, Chandler served as the CPTO for FATHOM, a tech-enabled Managed Services and SaaS startup focused on IoT and BigData solutions. Chandler has also led Product and Technology groups for Codero Hosting, SunGard Availability Services, Rackspace Managed Hosting, and Rackspace Cloud, in addition to serving on the Codero Hosting Board.
With over 20 years of experience in IT systems, Managed Services, and Cloud Computing, Chandler has done so much to advance the industry. He successfully launched an IoT and BigData platform to manage troves of real-time analytical and billing data and created the first ever Recovery Cloud and Recovery Automation platform for enterprise, state, local, and municipal markets. He has served as the founder and head of the Cloud Computing Research Center at The University of Texas at Austin, and he helped launch, form, and grow Rackspace Cloud from its inception to being a recognized leader in cloud. Further, he was a seminal leader in the eventual formation of OpenStack, the world’s first free and open-sourced cloud-computing platform. Chandler is named as inventor on several patents for distributed block storage, distributed computing, hybrid and multi-networking cloud architectures, and cloud automation.
Chandler holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Management from the University of Texas, Austin, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Rice University. He is a proud native Texan, and lives in Austin with his wife. When Chandler is not in front of a computer, you can find him reading, hunting, skiing, swimming, camping, or hiking. At times, it’s likely you may find him doing some of those things while in front of a computer too.
