A .pro domain name is the first and only restricted top-level domain exclusively for professionals. It is a domain indicating professionalism and credibility, and includes authentication and verification. .pro domains are now available to all professionals, regardless of industry, country or organization. Any business can register. As long as you have a business license, you are likely to be eligible to register a .pro domain. For more information on eligibility, please view question #6.
Trust in the business world is difficult to establish. A .pro domain gives additional credibility and confidence to your business as only registrants that are in good standing with their licensing entity are permitted to register a .pro domain.
Since .pro was formally restricted to a limited number of professions, there are still thousands of .pro domains available for immediate registration. If you already own your name as a .com or .net, make sure you lock in the .pro version before someone else gets it. Once it’s registered, it becomes extremely difficult to get it.
To help you get started with a .pro domain, we’ve drastically lowered our prices! For a limited time only, we are offering .pro domains at 70% off—only $14.95 per year! Register your .pro today to take advantage of the promotional price. Regular prices for registrations, renewals and transfers are $49.95/year.
Yes! .pro registrations are available internationally.
All licensed and credentialed professionals and professional entities who self-certify that they meet the eligibility requirements are able to register .pro domains. If you own a business license, you are likely to qualify! You can register if you:
To determine if your business is eligible to qualify, the general idea is as follows. As long as the organization provides the service associated with its registration identification, and meets all eligibility requirements outlined in the domain registration agreement, the organization is eligible to register a second-level .pro domain. For example, a customer’s business license states that they retail running shoes will be eligible if they use the .pro domain to sell shoes.
A .pro registrant may either be an individual professional or a professional organization. When the registrant is an organization, the organization can use its registration identification (e.g., business license) as its professional eligibility contact information. As long as the organization provides the service associated with its registration identification, and meets all eligibility requirements outlined in the registration agreement, the organization is eligible to register a second-level .pro domain. For example, a customer’s business license states that they retail running shoes will be eligible if they use the .pro domain to sell shoes.
All applicants will need to submit personal and professional information in order to be eligible for a .pro domain, including:
Yes, the Registry will monitor new and renewed .pro domains to ensure compliance with all terms and conditions of their agreements. You may be required to provide additional information to the Registry in order to activate or retain your domain.
Second-level .pro domains are subject to random verification checks on professional eligibility. If your information did not pass, please resubmit your professional information as per the email’s instructions.
Other than renewing your domain when it is close to expiring, registrants are required to agree to the Terms of Use (TOU) annually and to re-verify professional eligibility. Since your professional eligibility information is valid for one year, you will be required to reconfirm that you meet eligibility requirements and agree to the TOU on an annual basis. The Registry, RegistryPro, will send you an email at the end of each year to do so.
All second-level .pro domains must be a minimum of 4 characters long. The maximum character length is 63 characters.
Your domain is registered but will remain inactive until you have completed your professional eligibility information (A/V data). A request for your professional eligibility information (A/V data) will be sent directly to you from RegistryPro, the Registry for .pro. The email will come from support@registrypro.pro. Please ensure that you submit this information to the Registry within the allotted time; otherwise the domain will be deleted.
Customers are required to submit the professional eligibility information within a limited time. Once the A/V data has been submitted, the domain will resolve.
Yes, you are required to resubmit your professional eligibility information. You can initiate this change through SiteControl. Once initiated, you will receive an email from the Registry requesting your professional eligibility information (AV data). Please Note: Your website will be deactivated until you have submitted your professional eligibility information.
A/V data is simply your professional eligibility information. Please review question #6 for the professional eligibility information requirements.
When modifying domains, such as the registrant contact information, updates may take some time. The Registry is making enhancements to improve the process.
To speed up the registration process, we have assumed that you are using the same professional for your order. If you ordered 20 domains, this mechanism allows you to avoid submitting your professional eligibility information 20 times. (We know the A/V data submission process can be quite time consuming!) Because of this, all domains associated with this order will not be active until you have submitted your professional eligibility information.
If you wish to use different professionals, please submit your registration in separate orders.
To speed up the registration process, you can select to use the professional of another .pro domain. This way, you do not need to resubmit your professional eligibility information (AV data). However, if you do not submit your A/V information of the first domain, none of the domains associated with this professional will be active.
If you do not wish to use the same professional, please select “I want to submit new professional information.” You will be prompted by the registry to submit your professional eligibility information.
If you previously registered a second-level .pro domain with us, and will be submitting the same professional eligibility information for the new domain, you can bypass the registry’s professional eligibility information submission process. Simply indicate the professional you want to use by selecting the domain associated with the same professional.
As long as there are no problems with your domain, you are able to reuse the professional information over and over again. This makes the registration process a lot simpler and faster! Please ensure that your professional information is in good standing with the registry. If it is not, and you register your new domain with the “bad apple” professional information, you run the risk of losing the new domain.
If you are using different professional information, then you cannot reuse the professional information. You will need to submit new information. For example, you may hold both a professor’s and doctor’s credentials. You previously registered doctors.pro and used your medical professional information. You now want to register teachers.pro using this teacher’s professional information. You will then need to request to submit new professional information by selecting “I want to use new professional information.”.
Nope! Each order uses a single AV. This means you can add as many domains as you like in a single order, and you only have to submit your professional eligibility information to the registry once.
No, if you want to use different professionals, you must split up the order and submit the orders per professional.
