What does a hacker want to know about your system? What OS you’re running? Your IP address? Your CRM vendor? Malicious breaches are happening at an ever-increasing rate, and it’s tough to know what angle a hacker plans to use to exploit you. Attacks in the healthcare industry in particular are on the rise, thanks to the valuable personally identifiable information (PII) and electronic protected health information (ePHI) these providers house. While the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), along with other mandates, puts in place a range of safeguards, getting inside the mind of a hacker can also go a long way toward protecting yourself.

You’ve got too much going on just trying to keep your business or organization profitable to worry about every new security exploit that compromises not only your assets, but inherently, your clients’ trust.
Case in point, password manager OneLogin was recently hacked by an actor that accessed a set of Amazon Web Services (AWS) keys that allowed them to possibly decrypt encrypted data. And even more alarming, a defense contractor stored United States intelligence data in the AWS cloud completely unprotected. In the case of OneLogin, a number of personal accounts were at risk, but a large number of users likely stored work passwords, as well, that could have been extracted from the breach. (more…)

CRN®’s today announced its 2017 Solution Provider 500 list. CRN annually ranks the largest technology integrators, solution providers, and IT consultants in North America by revenue, and we could not be more excited to be part of this year's list.
Last year,
the healthcare sector experienced a record-breaking number of data breaches, underscoring the importance of staunch security. Over the course of 2016, the industry saw 40 percent more breaches than it had the year previous, totaling 1,093 incidents. As Healthcare Informatics contributor Rajiv Leventhal pointed out, these events shine a light on "troubling data security trends [that] continue to plague the sector."
However, data breaches can teach other healthcare institutions and covered entities a thing or two about HIPAA compliance and overall security best practices. Today, we're counting down the three worst breaches to take place in the healthcare sector recently, and highlighting the lessons these instances impart.
Several members of our team headed out to Phoenix, Arizona last month for the 8th annual Ingram Micro Cloud Summit. It’s one of the premier events for staying ahead of the game and finding out what’s coming next on the cloud-computing horizon.
The event also features awards for Ingram Micro channel partners who have demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to reinventing the customer experience.
And we were incredibly proud to be given the Excellence in Cloud award for leading a conversation about how hybrid infrastructure connecting clouds with on-premises networks is an innovative solution. Using the Odin Automation Premium platform, we’re solving a wide range of problems – from bottlenecks to scaling – by supporting customers in building a hybrid cloud solution stack.

Cinco de Mayo, Spanish for "May 5th," celebrates the date the Mexican Army defeated French forces at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. And no place celebrates it with quite as much fervor as the state of Texas, where our San Antonio office is located. We checked in with the office today and it's full of revelry, as we expected!
